Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) is an evidenced based structured, goal-oriented therapy that helps individuals change unhelpful thought patterns, emotions and behaviours. It is highly effective for anxiety disorders, depression and a number of other mental health conditions. Producing significant symptom reduction and improving coping strategies.

Emotion-focused therapy
Emotion focussed Therapy (EFT) emphasizes understanding and regulating emotions to improve psychological well-being and enhance relationships. It differs from other therapies by prioritizing emotional awareness and expression, fostering deeper emotional processing and connection. It is evidenced based and studies show significant improvements in emotional regulation, relationship satisfaction and overall mental health outcomes.

Trauma-informed practice
Trauma informed practice is a strengths-based framework which is founded on five core principles – safety, trustworthiness, choice, collaboration and empowerment as well as respect for diversity. Our Psychologists are trauma-informed and continue to engage in ongoing professional training to provide best practice and treatment for people who have experienced trauma and or diagnosed with Post-Traumatic Stress.

Therapeutic Alliance
An essential part of our work and skill set as Psychologists is to develop trusting and collaborative relationship between a client and their therapist. It’s also known as a working alliance. The therapeutic alliance is a key factor in successful therapy, and is based on mutual respect, trust, and open communication.

Couples therapy
Our Couples Psychologist is trained in Levels 1 and 2 of the Psychobiological Approach to Couples Therapy (PACT), developed by Dr.Stan Tatkin.
PACT integrates insights from attachment theory, developmental neuroscience, social justice, and arousal regulation. This approach helps partners understand each other at a deeper level — emotionally and physiologically — and has a strong reputation for effectively supporting couples, including those facing complex or long-standing challenges.

Motivational Therapy
Motivational Therapy is a treatment approach that uses a combination of humanistic and cognitive-behavioural strategies to help people change their behaviour. It can be used to treat substance use disorders and other mental health disorders.

Relaxation and Stress-management
To effectively combat stress, relaxation and stress reduction techniques may be itlised to activate your body’s natural relaxation response. These techniques include progressive muscle relaxation practices, deep breathing techniques, the use of visualization, meditation, and yoga.

The transdiagnostic approach
A fast-developing field that’s challenging traditional diagnostic boundaries. It’s based on the idea that understanding the common factors across diagnoses can lead to better treatments and reduced psychological distress.

Schema Therapy
Schema therapy targets schemas, this term describes maladaptive patterns of thinking that maybe responsible for unhelpful behaviour or struggles to maintain adult relationships. Schemas are understood to develop in childhood. In adulthood, these schemas are considered to influence an individual’s thoughts and actions in unhelpful ways—leading to behaviours such as avoidance, overcompensation, or excessive self-sacrifice. These behaviours, in turn, can adversely affect relationships and emotional well-being.

Mindfulness Integrated Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (MiCBT)
In a nutshell MiCBT is an evidenced based psychological treatment process that is composed of four stages. It commences by developing skills in self-care and self-awareness, it then progresses to developing skills to manage thoughts and emotions. It then progresses towards increasing awareness to how is the self in relationship with the external world. It teaches the person to learn how to regulate and to reduce stress symptoms and to cultivate a more pleasant and fulfilling way of relating to the world.
